The simple meaning of Christmas

By Dean Nicosia

It's Christmas time and the shopping days are drawing to a close, the business of the season has gotten to us all, each in our own little way...

For those of us who are lucky enough not only to just have a job, but to have one which we love, and is secure, and busy this time of the year, we are losing our minds keeping up, and still managing to get the shopping done, and hit all of the parties.

For those of us who are not as lucky, times are tough, the work has gone south, or in some cases far east, the pressure is on to provide for the families, and scrape together a few bucks, for some presents under the tree.

But for all of us, it's still Christmas, time for family and friends, good cheer and good times, warm thoughts and fond memories.  This is  the season to be full of joy, even when joy seems to elude us. As Americans we all have something to be thankful for, even if it is hard to see sometimes. Remember what Christmas really means, whatever that may be for you.

For me Christmas is the time when we celebrate the birth of our lord, who came to this place for each one of us, out of pure compassion, to save us all from our own demise. And during this time of celebration, it's a time to be happy and grateful for what we all take for granted. Whether that be the fact that we live in America, or God, family, food, health, and so much more.

It's a time to be happy, no matter what, not a time to let the craziness of the season bog you down even further. Be happy and be grateful, and share that with another. A kind word or a smile, or even lending a hand to those who have less.

So as you figure out how you are going to pay the rent, or find time to get everything in, or how you are going to afford presents, or find time to buy them, remember the true meaning of Christmas, don't let it be lost.

It Came Upon a Midnight Clear....what a glorious notion, that someone would care for us so deeply. Don't forget what it means, and share it with another. God Bless you this Christmas Season and be safe in the new year!

God Bless America!!

...Thatís just my slanted view! God Bless, and Go Patriots!!!
